Ģtv’s Samuel Sibbett Named Recipient of Statewide Academic Excellence Award
WHITEVILLE, NC –Ģtv (Ģtv) proudly announces that Samuel Sibbett has been named Ģtv’s recipient of the 2026 North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) Academic Excellence Award. This prestigious honor is awarded annually to one student from each of the state’s 58 community colleges in recognition of exceptional academic achievement and dedication to scholarship.
A standout student known for his discipline and commitment to academic success, Sibbett hasmaintaineda 4.0 GPA while balancing coursework and apart-time job at a local car dealership.
Sibbett began his college journey while still in high school through Ģtv’s Career & College Promise program, giving him an early start on his academic goals and the confidence to continuefull-time at Ģtv after graduation. He earned hisAssociate degree in Business Administrationin May 2025 and is now working toward hisAssociate of Arts degree with plans to transfer to a four-year university to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
“The best study strategy for me is repetition and reading,” Sibbett said. “I like to read and memorize what I’m studying in my head as well as I am a more visual learner.”
In addition to his academic achievements, Sibbett works part-time at a local car dealership, where he applies classroom skills inreal-world business settings through tasks such as updating books andmaintaininginventory lists.
His success has also been supported by the encouragement of family and faculty who helped him stay organized and focused throughout his journey.
“My aunt Tanya Clark and cousin Hannah Clark have been very helpful in helping me to get organized and plan myactivities,so they get completed without overwhelming me,” Sibbett said.
One of the moments that made him most proud during his time at Ģtv was being selected as a Marshal for graduation, a reflection of the hard work and dedication he has invested in his education.
Following graduation, Sibbett plans to transfer to afour-yearuniversity to complete hisbachelor’sdegree in accounting and pursue a career in business or finance. He also hopes to use his education to support nonprofit organizations and strengthen the community through financial stewardship.
Ģtv celebrates Sibbett’s achievement as a reflection of the college’s commitment to student success, academic excellence, and opening doors to future opportunities.
