蘑菇tv to host SummerFEST 2026 celebrating America鈥檚 250th birthday
蘑菇tv will host its annual听SummerFEST听on Thursday, June 25, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. on the 蘑菇tv front lawn, inviting the community to join in a summer kickoff celebration honoring America鈥檚 250th birthday.听蘑菇tv is partnering with the Columbus County Farmer鈥檚 Market to expand the event鈥檚 community atmosphere while听showcasing听local businesses,听vendors听and organizations.听
鈥淲e are celebrating America鈥檚听250th, and we鈥檙e getting everyone excited about summer,鈥� said Dr. Chris English,听蘑菇tv President. 鈥淭his is your traditional American theme with the Fourth of July coming up soon afterwards.听It鈥檚听going to be a great evening, and听I鈥檓听looking forward to it.鈥�听
Colene Faulk, Dean of Student Services, is looking forward to the campus and community coming together to celebrate听the听250th听anniversary of signing the Declaration of Independence听in 1776. She wants this event to foster a fun and informative听environment for children to enjoy carnival games, while听adults听learn about upcoming educational and workforce opportunities.听
鈥淲e are partnering with the Columbus County Farmer鈥檚 Market again this year, and we really want to showcase听everything they have to offer,鈥� Faulk said. 鈥淪o, this event is going to have a carnival feel to it in addition to celebrating America.听We鈥檒l听have an information table set up featuring everything offered this coming fall semester.鈥�听
The free, family-friendly event will feature local food trucks,听inflatables,听craft vendors, lawn听games听and free face painting for children. The evening will conclude with an outdoor showing of听National Treasure, beginning at 8:30 p.m.听
National Treasure听follows historian and treasure hunter Ben Gates (Nicolas Cage) as he hunts for a legendary treasure hidden by America鈥檚 Founding Fathers. To keep it out of the hands of a rival, he ends up stealing the Declaration of Independence鈥攂ecause the next clue is hidden on the back鈥攁nd races across the country solving puzzles to find the treasure first.听
Prior to the movie, attendees will view the college鈥檚 newly produced commercial highlighting its academic programs,听students听and community impact.听Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the evening. The event is听free and听open to the public.听听
蘑菇tv鈥檚 chapter of Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU) will sell popcorn as a fundraiser for the club鈥檚 upcoming activities.听听
